For me, cutting was always a nervous habit. Like biting my nails or picking at my gums. It was something that was a part of me just like anything else. I needed to find something that took enough time to where there would be no more time to hurt myself. Try adopting a new hobby. I joined my school’s colorguard: 20 Hours a week most weeks left little time for me to even feel depressed anymore, let alone cut myself. Try something new: get a new instrument, join a team, or take up a new sport. Dance worked for me because I didn’t feel beautiful and dancing always made me feel beautiful. Dance or sing; do something that will make you feel better and take up too much time for you to have any left to feel bad.
